Narrows Bridge

Perth Foreshore, Western Australia

The purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate the rapid survey capability of a vehicle mounted Riegl VZ-1000 3D laser scanner. The scanner is mounted to the vehicle using a sturdy shock absorbed platform suitable for very rough terrain. The scanner was also fitted with a Leica GNSS Antenna for positioning.

The Riegl scanner has an exceptional range of 1400m. this combined with a very short scan acquisition time of only a few minutes means that a very large area can be covered very quickly and accurately. In this case, 4 scan positions, 2 each on North and South foreshore.

The individual scans are then joined together to form a comprehensive 3D survey of the area.
