Ship Hull Inspection

Global Scanning Solutions (GSS) was engaged by international dredging and offshore contractor - Van Oord Offshore to verify deformation in the hull of a dredging vessel which struck Unexploded Ordnance (XUO) off the coast of Surabaya, Indonesia during dredging operations. The impact caused deformation at the starboard stern of the vessel.

 

3D Laser scanning and dimensional control survey was utilised to investigate the area of impact and to determine the magnitude of hull deformation.

 

Data acquisition included propellers, hull bottom from mid-ship to stern and inside the engine room. Results were used to determine severity of damage and deformation and to assist in the planning of necessary repairs.
